Select an item with a specific class and identifier

Question

I tried this and it worked in all browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Opera and Safari):

.classname # Identifier

However, I cannot find it anywhere on w3c.org, can you tell me where this is mentioned? I mean, if it is supported by all of these browsers, then this should be part of the standard, right?

You can bind a CSS selector, just like using an H1.title, where you bind a type selector (H1) and a class selector (.title). See http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-selectors/#selector-syntax

This is useless, although specifying an identifier is sufficient.
