What is a good development environment for writing Oracle SQL?

The project I'm working on has an Oracle backend, and we use SQL Navigator to develop SQL, and that really sucks: intellisense does not work for queries with more than one table, and you cannot view the schema while writing the query on the screen. Not fun.

I also tried using Oracle SQL Developer . These are not many improvements - the graphics in the query results window get all the boost and often repaint by clicking on the screen.

The extent to which I write SQL is pretty simple: the procedure here and there is mostly queries. Can someone recommend a worthy tool, preferably one with a low cost?

All IDE: s for Oracle DB are more or less bad, TOAD is the best, but still nothing comparable to a real IDE, such as Visual Studio or Eclipse.

The main problem with TOAD is the default text editor. Find is a nightmare, and you cannot change shortcuts, and automatic alignment uses spaces, even if you configure it to use tabs and other annoying features. In addition, canceling requests or requesting a disconnected session may cause it to fail. Also intellisense is a kind of slow imo, but it works, which is better than others offer.
