MS SQL Server Data Capture for iPhone App?

I have an existing desktop application that retrieves information from Microsoft SQL Server. The desktop application is written in C # / ASP / .NET.

I would like to take the same data and present it in the application for the iPhone. What would be the best way to get and present data?

I would recommend writing a web service that provides data and then interacts with it through the iPhone over the network.

Calling web services and making HTTP calls is very easy on iPhone.
