Useful look for dumb users?

I am working on a small project that requires some of our users to be able to view / sort / filter and usually play with a lot of data. It is based on the presentation of sql server 2000 and has a value of the order of 125k lines of historical event data (I think sports).

Usually I would like to move on to this simple manipulation, but the excel version that we use does not support more than 65 thousand lines (2003). I was thinking about access, but on the surface, the interface seems a bit complicated.

Does anyone know of a good tool that allows these users to quickly perform such operations?

Honestly, if you are sure that you can quickly implement the solution (say, 1 hour) with excel 2007. Bear in mind that Office 2007 costs ~ $ 500, and regardless of your hourly rate (let's just say $ 50 for kicks), then you you will need to build something in 10 hours and something else that you better go and buy Office 2007.

10 hours, which is less than 2 days. And the price is $ 500 for a new copy of the office, not a version for updating.

It looks like an update time.

By the way, here are a few numbers of Excel 2007 limitations.
