Is Ubuntu 9.04 OpenJDK equivalent to sun-java6-plugin?

I am wondering if there is an implementation of the firefox plugin for OpenJDK or how can I get firefox to use JavaJava OpenJDK for applets. I have been searching endlessly and I cannot find any good resources.

Any ideas?
