How can I keep up with new technologies?

I have been a developer for many years and have the opportunity to develop and have always supported the latest technology. I want to start using the design template in the hope that it will improve my development speed, but I need to find it for application, and I need to find a complete open source sample that demonstrates it.

Read blogs (RSS feeds are the main ones). Read magazines. Read random MSDN entries. Write small trial applications. The only way to keep up is to open it and practice.

Templates are not really “technical” in the traditional sense. Using templates means applying your specific domain knowledge to the problem, taking into account the templates that apply to that domain. They are useful to the extent that you have an experience base to bring them into context.
