The question is about the reasonable size iPhone app set for the App Store. Storage of memory!

I plan to introduce my new app on the App Store. The application consists of many image resources (animation) - more than 40 million. Are there any formal restrictions on the app store for application package size? I never see such a state and I think that everything will be in order. Correctly?

My main question is:

Are there any negative aspects for usability in case the application is huge?
-performing user traffic
-problem with installing
-etc ...

Should I try to reduce the size of my application as much as I can? (actually I already did this, but the size is still large)

I have no statistics on this. What is the average size of an application in an application store and how many exceptions are with a large size?

Thanks, Mike /

The only limitation that I know of is that if your application exceeds 10 megabytes, you must download it via Wi-Fi when installing through the App Store on your phone.

There are some huge applications that I installed, including:

  • Apple Hold em: 172.8 MB
  • Spore: 68.5 MB
  • Oregon Trail: 52.6 MB
  • and 10 more that exceed 40 MB.

I would venture to guess that the upcoming Tom Tom map app will be very large.
