How to evaluate Apache with delays?

What is a good way to test apache with delay between requests from unix command line? The only comparison tool I know from the command line is ab, and it does not support delays.

I just like The Grinder , a fully programmable testing tool. Unfortunately, you cannot run it completely from the command line, but I would really try if I were you.

Otherwise, you have httperf , which is really a command line and supports "user sessions" (that is, delays) and many other options.

You can run abthrough watchto delay re-access, but you are unlikely to be able to use reporting.

watch -n 1 ab -n 3 http://serverfault.com/

Or run it curlinsteadab

watch -n 0.4 curl http://serverfault.com/
