Workflow for authenticating and using the API from Twitter to OAuth

I got a little confused about all of this by OAuth bruhaha in the sense that all the examples I can find are for web applications and none of them for desktop applications.

I understand the work flow of a web application, but this includes some redirects between the web application and twitter.

  • How to do this in a desktop application?
  • How do redirects work?
  • Should I include a web browser object?
  • Is there any way around this?
  • Can someone point me to resources, not a full-blown solution?

thanks
