Should you edit and create forms the same?

In many applications, the “create new record” and “edit existing records” forms are very similar or even identical.

Is it good to use the same code block for these two (same winform or html page or something else) or will it cause problems in the long run?

Well, I think this is a matter of personal preference ... If you want both forms to look the same, this looks like a good idea. You just need to make the fields editable and add a few buttons when you are in edit mode.
