Php / mysql: a database of banking holidays and events such as Christmas, Easter, etc.

Question

Im working on a simple calendar application, and I want the indicated events to appear on the calendar [holidays and this].

A calendar is a standard view of the month, with a link to every day for each day of the month, as well as links to view the next / previous month and year, etc.

I will probably have mktime for each saved event, and if today == mktime displays it on the calendar [or something like that], but where can I get these dates?

Any suggestions
