Reporting Services Chart - Custom Axis Label

I have a SQL Server Reporting Services (2008) report chart (error chart). The X axis has time intervals 1/1/2009, 2/1/2009, etc. The Y axis has numerical intervals of 50. The values on the Y axis are 0, 50, and 100. However, instead of displaying 0, 50, and 100, I would like to display Small, Medium, and Large, respectively. Does anyone know how this text replacement can be done?

This is a bit of a hack, but here goes:

  • First, normalize your values around zero, so the lowest value is -50 and the highest value is 50. You can do this in the chart control itself, you do not need to change your data set. Your values are between 0 and 100, so just subtract 50.

  • Further, according to the properties of the value axis β†’ axis options, set the minimum value to -50, maximum 50 and the interval to 50.

  • Finally, in the properties of the value axis β†’ Number, select the category as "Custom" and enter this as an expression of the user format: = "Large, Small, Medium"

(what is the excel format code: pos; neg; zero)

You should get something like this:
