Any free alternative to ASP.net management calendar?

Question

Here are the problems I'm having with the factory control:

• there is no easy way to get the first visible date (yes, I could use the rendering of the day, but at this point in the page loop I cannot do what I need, which controls the collection in viewstate)
• changing the visibledate property in my code does not result in a visiblemonthchanged event. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

Can anyone suggest a free improved calendar control?
