What is a mature program?

It seems subjective, but I want to know what is mature software?

The answer is very subjective. But basically, if the software can answer most of these criteria (in order of priority):

• safe
• reliable
• actively supported
• has an active community
• proven fields

Then it can be considered "mature."

A mature program should be what you mean. I do not think that you will find a simple mechanism for measuring maturity, and all definitions will be very different. This will always be a subjective look, which I fear and therefore put forward many arguments.

I would say that mature programs are stable, well-documented, widely used and well tested.
