In short
For the project I need audio / video chat for 2 people, with the ability to record (part) of the session. I encounter problems when the 2nd user recorded video is confused with a huge number of (apparently) dropped frames and / or loss of sound, which is most likely caused by the audio stream (in the absence of sound recording, the problem does not appear to happen) .
Overview
For the project, I need a setting where two clients can video (+ audio, obviously :) communicate with each other. In addition, the “host” should be able to record the session when it presses the button and stop recording in the same way.
While this installation is far from rocket science, I am having problems that I seem to be unable to understand. Clients connect very well, and videos appear with each other, and they can even hear each other well. I decided to reinitialize the connection when the host starts recording, which also works fine. However, recorded files sometimes experience problems.
Possible reason
Typically, host recording is large, with audio and video working as they should. The client’s video demonstrates problems when the video plays literally during playback (in a number of applications, such as VLC, KMPlayer, Adobe’s own media player, etc.). I tried to debug the situation and it seems to be directly related to the audio, although how this happens I am not sure. When I did tests without recorded sound, both videos played normally.
