this may seem rather strange, but now I'm working on a membership-based site where users register and choose a membership method that will be on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis. It will be based on PayPal. However, despite the fact that I worked for 5 years, I have never worked on any e-commerce project before: \ instead, I worked on almost everything else, i.e. integrated Wikipedia, built a mail client, parsing PDF, etc. Etc., And I am a little perplexed how to start with this. I have not done any online shopping before - I know the theory behind it, using a third party for payments and that’s it, but I don’t know how I should structure my system.
As we have 3 users, free users, premium and gold users. Free users have minimal access, gold users have maximum access, and premium users have several gaps between them and, accordingly, they are charged accordingly. I thought how such websites work. I mean, the user signs up for a gold account and pays for 3 months. What happens at the end of three months are these membership sites that they automatically bill for each individual time period, or will the individual come to the end of their membership to pay? And what information will I need to store in this case regarding transactions and everything.
Plus, how can I test this system without having to use a credit card in real time or like this: \ - Sorry if I look like noob, but I never had the opportunity to work on such a project before. Its never too late to learn.
I decided that membership would be simple in this aspect: users will be provided with a free account during registration and they will be allowed to update their accounts for a certain period, the expiration of which will reset to return to their main accounts if they do not want renew subscription payment. The problem is that - I have absolutely no idea how to make this work, and I will not use periodic billing.
