Where can I get the Entity Framework?

I'm sorry this is probably a really stupid question. Forgive me because I come from a Java background, and I am making efforts to learn .NET technologies.

I try to follow the tutorial for the ASP.Net MVC website from my site , and I get to the part where I need to create a new model. When I right-click, they say that I should select the ADO.Net Data Entity Model. The problem is that this option is not available. I am not sure if I installed ADO.Net or standardly. I have VS 2008 Professional Edition and am running on a Vista virtual machine (Sun VirtualBox, did not want to ruin the current environment).

EDIT:

Modest apolygia. I walked too fast. Now I see that SP1 is the forerunner of the textbook. Thank you all

For the Entity Framework (e.g. ADO.NET Entity Model) you will need to install VS2008 SP1 (which also includes the required .NET 3.5 SP1 ).

You also need to make sure that 3.5 is selected for the project, but for MVC, I assume that it should already be ...

It is also possible that your templates just do not work properly ...

Alternatively, if you are coming from a java background, use SharpArchitecture instead . It uses NHibernate to access data, so assuming you know Hibernate, you should swing fast.

EF - (?) .net.

EDIT: , , EF Wererhino.
