Is aspnetdb.mdf ever intended for use in an online production application?

Is the generated aspnetdb.mdf ever intended to be used on the Internet? It has been a while since I looked at it, but from what I remember, the generated username database could only be configured and maintained locally in your visual studio environment. Is this still true? Does anyone use this online for large applications?

EDIT:

I ask because all the examples that I see just use VS built-in tools to create a database of examples, but I did not find where they made the "real" online.

EDIT:

It just seemed like you could create this db username / password for use in your projects and then find out that you really can't.

This is just SQL Express db. You can, of course, save aspnetdb.mdf membership information through your own administration pages if you want.

In fact, if you intend to use SQL Express as your database (very limited scenarios where appropriate), you can add the rest of your tables / sprocs to aspnetdb.mdf and use only one db instead of using aspnetdb.mdf for membership and creating another for your other needs.
