The least annoying email format

Does anyone have a reason / preference for a better format for sending email replies from a website (payment confirmation / password reminder, etc.)?

In your letters, use plain text with links to your HTML pages. HTML in a letter is generally widely offended as a bad idea because it is a gigantic security hole.
