Search for good examples of finding and replacing user interfaces in text editors and IDEs

I am working on a Windows application with a built-in text editor, such as an IDE. The current Search and Replace features use standard Windows dialogs that show their age and are not very powerful.

What great examples do you know about Find and Replace features in text editors or in the IDE? I am looking for inspiration for appearance, ease of use, powerful functionality, whole works. Thanks!

Note. I'm certainly interested in the super powerful IDE editing features, but I'm also interested in a simple but elegant interface, such as the Firefox Find panel or the Chrome find tab.

Edit: I accepted Richard's post because he talked about several different types of user interface search and replace, but all the answers were very helpful - thanks!

Find in Visual Studio includes many options:

  • Quick search on the toolbar (or control D).
  • Incremental search
  • A plug-in dialog with options for searching the current file, all open files, the current project or the entire workspace.
  • Support for plain text, whole words and regular expressions.
  • Find files with names (user-defined) sets of folders.
