Organization of large volumes of Doc in Sharepoint

I need to upload to Sharepoint about 100,000 (MS-Word) documents that are currently on the file server - added over the past 7 years. I read that the sharepoint document library really should be limited to 2000 documents and that after that it will be a performance issue.

I was thinking of creating a Doc Library for each calendar year, but even then, each of them would have more than 10,000 documents ...

I read that creating views in Doc libraries will increase performance, but I don’t understand how it will be. How about adding indexes?

What is the best solution? Anyone facing this problem?

Be careful, you want to set the index in your fields, which are used as a filter for your view. Otherwise, a problem may occur.

Another option is "2000 items per container", which really means a folder.
