Is there any way to prepare for a rough code review?

I try to stay positive and set the goal of quality software as my goal; however others criticize my code. How can I adequately prepare and get the most out of a code review that can be rude?

Tip:

  • Recognize and rephrase criticism (repeat it in your own words) to make sure that you understand it and that your critics know that they heard them.
  • Politely insist that the criticism be constructive: your critics must say how everything should be done better.

Use what you learn from one code review to write better code next time. Strive to be better.
