Silverlight 3 Hosting

I'm a little confused about hosting Silverlight applications.

On the one hand, I see that I can host a silverlight application on a linux server just by defining the mime type, and on the other hand, some hosting sites say that they are compatible with Silverlight.

And I also want to play funcionality silverlight 3 outside the browser. What do I need to do?

Thank you in advance

All Silverlight needs to host on the server is an XAP file and a set of mime types. This is it. If you want your application to work "from a browser", there is nothing specific that your server should support.

, Silverlight WCF ASP, , IIS... Silverlight , mime.

. Silverlight 3. , Out of Browser .

- Silverlight 3 , , , Application.Current.Detach() .

Silverlight HTML- -. Linux . . (msdn).

"silverlight compatible" I would suggest that this means that they have a MIME record in place, and this is mainly marketing.

The best way to host a microsoft product is to use a hosting service that works with Windows, then you can deploy it to IIS and install MIME. You should find a recommended Windows hosting provider using googling
