Is PrototypeJS library compatible with Firefox extensions?

Question

Does anyone know if there is a PrototypeJS library compatible with Firefox extensions? I wrote a piece of JS code that is 700 lines in Prototype and doesn't want to replay it using jQuery, which I know is recommended for XUL Extensions in Firefox? I heard about the XUL prototype, but it looks like it is essentially just “Prototype Lite” and not as extensive as the source file.

Any insight would be wonderful.
