Connecting to SQL Server from a Virtual PC

I have a version for developers of VS 2008 and SQL Server 2005 installed on your desktop. I have an instance of XP running on Virtual PC and you want to connect to the instance of dev. I am registered as a domain user both on the desktop and on a virtual XP instance. When I try to connect, I get a message that says "Server does not exist or access is denied." What do I need to do to connect. I use a trusted connection and userid has privileges in the database.

SO, do you think that switching to Local and Remote Connections with the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration Tool will do the trick?

For me, despite setting up a SQL server for remote connections, I was not able to access the sql server from Win XP VM.

So, when I turned off the Windows firewall from the host machine, it worked fine !!
