Cancel Flex Text Control

I'm having trouble finding any resource to add the capabilities of ctrl-z undo to the Flex RichTextEditor control (lack of apparently sharing with other Flex text controls). I am confused that this is not in native forms, because it is such a fundamental opportunity, available even in the standard text elements of the browser that I consider.

Any mention of this problem on Flex sites (there are several) conflicts; one says that the problem is “Closed” and the resolution is “External” (whatever that means).

Does anyone have any ideas to suggest? I have an application that requires extensive text editing. Flex generally works beautifully, but this trivial flaw is simply fatal, like any person.

I read elsewhere - in fact, in the answers to one of my questions on SO - that the problem will not be resolved in Flex 3. Which seems correct, since we are in 3.2 or maybe even more than that, and there is no cancellation in sight.
