Is Joomla good for a social networking site? Unforeseen Pros and Cons on Joomla

We used Joomla as a ready-made CMS for our website.

We now have a requirement from the client to create a travel advisory website. The client never used Joomla for programming. He used Joomla as a finished component.

They need to create a destination and write to the destination with comments, ratings, etc. by other users. But he wants to reuse existing Joomla modules / plugins to avoid development costs.

Has anyone tested using Joomla here for such a task? I could not find a better discussion of what Joomla can use?

Community extension for Joomla Community Builder (CB). There are also opportunities for voting, commenting, blogging, etc.

Your problem will be to find a combination that does what you want to an acceptable degree. If your client is not satisfied and has MUSTS, the solution of which is not provided by Joomla + Extensions, you will have to start hacking extensions or start writing plugins.

Now hacking a Joomla installation is actually not a good idea, since updating will become difficult, and not an updated Joomla installation is a big security risk.

Rating extensions are ten cents. Regarding comments and other social events, why don't you install the Facebook extension. There are a few that are very powerful, and Facebook does a great job with social media traffic on any website.
