Using ClearQuest for Inventory Management Application

Has anyone used IBM Rational ClearQuest to create inventory management schemes or a similar application? We are β€œasked” to use this tool because it has already bought and paid for web support for some legacy systems, but I believe that this is a completely wrong tool to work with.

I'm with you on this, while ClearQuest is a customizable workflow engine, using it for a bunch of "stagnant" entries like inventory seems a bit off. Is there more than that, or is your interest easy to track stocks?

If so, I would say that, although it’s possible, the initial setting of the cost of efforts, and since you already own it now, will be low, you can ultimately pay for this simplicity with a system that is not one what did you want in a year or two years, or when you reach several million records and start crawling ...

Does your Mgt inventory system require a web interface and a custom workflow for your Admin / Asset mgt pple application?

If so, then CQ makes sense. Otherwise, if you are looking at the dump storage area for your records, MS Access may even be better for work.
