Is there a security risk not to use the .htaccess file?

I have a Joomla website www.siteA.com and another Joomla website www.siteA.com/siteB.

I have a .htaccess file on site A, but not on the site.

Is there a security risk of not having .htaccess -file on site B?

.htaccess files are configuration files used to override settings at the level of each directory. The same parameters (and more) can be set from the main apache configuration (often in / usr / local / etc / apache *). If you own your server and configure Apache correctly, it may actually be an enhancement to disable .htaccess for performance reasons.

Improper permission settings are usually a security risk. How you configure them is up to you. Some people prefer to have .htaccess so that they can support general application settings.
