Find duplicate iPhone apps

What is the most effective way to determine if my idea for an iPhone has already been made? ITunes search is not suitable for this purpose, and the websites that I have seen in iPhone apps are not exhaustive. (Perhaps I just did not find a site that does this.) I have not yet registered with the iPhone Developer Program; perhaps this search tool is located in this fenced garden.

Use google search ;-) almost every application has a special web page, except for the application store, and it is no secret that google hits a crappy search in the application store any day

Although Google is not a 100% solution for this, it’s better any day than most other sources.
