As an IDE graphic user, should I be interested in traditional editors?

I use full-blown graphical IDEs like Eclipse CDT (Linux) and Visual Studio (Windows) which have features like autocomplete, built-in debugging, etc. These are functions that I feel I cannot live without.

I keep hearing about how many people use emacs / vim daily. Why do people still use console editors when graphical IDEs seem easier to use? I know how to use vim and emacs, but for everyday programming, I just use the IDE, as I consider myself more productive.

This is not a vim vs emacs issue, so please don't argue with each other, please discuss the IDE graphical environment with the console IDE instead.

As I have already familiar with the IDE graphic, if I can get any productive advantage by using instead emacs / vim?

I expect the answer to be “possibly not,” simply because of the learning curve , and I would skip the usual graphical IDE features such as autocomplete and the built-in debugger ; but emacs seems to support auto completion and debugging . However, for those using a standard GUI text editor, I would say that they should use emacs / vim. What do you think?
