Volume Shadow Copy (VSS)

Can someone clarify the problem? I use the VSS API (C ++, using VSS2008 and the latest SDK running on XP SP3) in the homebrew backup utility.

VSS snapshot operations work fine for a folder that does not have subfolders, i.e. my email volumes and SQL server. However, when I take a snapshot of a folder that contains subfolders, the nested structure is flattened out in the snapshot - all subdirectories cease to exist.

So here is the question: I know that VSS support on XP is a bit limited, but is there a way to tell the snapshot to be non-recursive? Documents are not very useful ...

  • I was really tired of the buggy that costs boats and fails every few days, so I decided that I would give up on myself. At some point it will fall into CodeProject. If anyone is interested, let me know and you can have a (original) copy when it is ready ...

thanks ++

Jerry

Your question is confused ...

VSS does not work at the "folder" level. It works at the volume level.
