Recalling terminal states in OS X (e.g. Fluid for shell ...)

I have several different things open in the terminal whenever I develop - log tail, Ruby console, regular shell in a specific directory, etc.

Like me:

  • start all these things right away, hopefully in the right position on the screen?
  • make them great so that I can switch to them using Quicksilver / Alt-Tab?

Fluid solved this problem with all my web applications, so now I want to do this using my terminals.

And while we are on this topic, did anyone find a working solution in order to make OS X remember the window positions on an external monitor? If I unplug it and plug it in again, I have to drag everything back to the same position (although at least Mercury Mover allows you to do this using the keyboard.)

Open a terminal and go to the "Settings" section, then go to the "Settings" tab and create a new parameter for each of your windows that you want. Either give them all the different color schemes, or duplicate the color scheme several times so that they all have the same settings. Under the shell tab, add the Run command to start when the shell starts. (This is the command that will be cdin the desired directory, or taillog).

Then initialize the windows as you like. Then click "Window" in the main menu and select "Save Windows as a group ..."
