Is ODP.NET distributed?

Are Oracle ODP.NET Libraries Distributed? As in, can I just add Oracle.DataAccess.dll with my application and reference it without getting into any legitimate hot water? The license to download ODAC on OTN is quite incompatible with legalization, which does not make it clear whether I can or cannot directly enable dll.

What you want to distribute is Oracle Instant Client . This is a free component of Oracle that contains the files necessary for client applications, and nothing more.

Personally, I have never used it with ODP.NET, but there is an article about using Instant Client and ODP.NET on the Oracle website . I used Instant Client applications for Java and Perl without any problems.

Oracle now publishes a redist package. It is called "ODAC (Oracle Data Access Components) using xcopy." This includes ODP drivers, an instant client, and all supported unmanaged DLLs.
