Why does Silverlight 2 only support WCF basicHTTP binding?

I'm confused ... How can MS release two versions of Silverlight without proper support for WCF bindings? Should they not support wsHTTP binding at least? So, can a service have proper message-level security? (i.e. certificates, etc.)

With basicHTTP binding, it seems that there are only two options for protecting a service:

  • HTTPS (but this does not apply to authentication)
  • Custom WS-Security implementation on top of the basicHTTP binding

Did I miss something?
