Mobile OSGi ready for use in the real world on mobile phones?

Question

I am developing applications for mobile devices. I have never developed OSGi and now, I'm going to start with it.

I read a lot about using OSGi on mobile phones, and he said that it works on J2ME, Symbian, Windows Mobile, Android ... But it seems to me that no one is currently using it.

I really would like to take advantage of many of the benefits of OSGi, but I know that I can do it without it. And I don’t want to exclude users who cannot use OSGi on their phone or have to go through complex setup processes to get their phones ready for OSGi.

And I just can't believe that most of these cheap J2ME phones can run something complicated like OSGi. Not to mention the “thousands of smartphones for $ 1,000,” but rather the consumer devices you can get, for example, Sony Ericsson for $ 100 (or $ 200 to be fair).

Is mobile OSGi a real alternative right now, or is it just a pleasant prospect for future use?

Regarding market penetration, yes, this is not yet universally deployed, and I understand that this is a limitation for an application developer (who usually does not want to deploy the platform with his application).
