Mouse Wheel Motion Detection in Flash (AS3)

Question

I have a Flash application that should detect a mouse wheel event (MouseEvent.MOUSE_WHEEL), which I tested on a standalone flash player and works fine, but when I put swf in a web browser, the mouse wheel stops working.

I tested this in: Internet Explorer 7.0, Mozilla Firefox 3, Safari 3, and Google Chrome; and this happens in all browsers

PS: SWF file is embedded in the body of the page, a simple page with only swf.

EDIT: swf has wmode set to opaque and it focuses on it when this error occurs.
