Django has a very handy template known as "applications." In essence, a standalone plug-in that requires a minimum amount of wiring, configuration, and glue code to integrate into an existing project. Examples are tagging, comments, a contact form, etc. They allow you to create large projects, collecting a collection of useful applications, and not recording everything from scratch. The applications that you ultimately write can be made portable so that you can process them in other projects.
Does this template exist in the Google App Engine? Is there a way to create standalone applications that can easily be dropped into an App Engine project? From the very beginning, the YAML url approach looked as if it might require a significant rethinking of how this is done in Django.
Note. I know that I can run Django on the App Engine, but that’s not what I'm interested in doing this time.
