SVN and accented characters

I have a subversion repository that I administer. When I try to add a file with accented (non-ASCII) characters in its name, the server refuses this command. The server runs on Ubuntu, the client is Eclipse on Windows.

I could not find anything in the SVN Frequently Asked Questions about accented characters in file names, as well as in the SVN Book . I know that having accented characters in the source code file name is probably not such a good idea, but ... this is a requirement ...

Any idea where to find the documentation?
