Per-filetype View whitespace parameter in Visual Studio

Is there a way to enable / disable the "View Whitespace" feature in Visual Studion on a per-filetype basis? I would like to be able to edit python files with visible spaces, but not other types.

Unfortunately, there is no way to do this. The White Space View option (available in the Modify | Advanced menu) White Space View is stored in the registry, which means that this option applies to all files and all Visual Studio sessions.

The next best thing is to find out the shortcut key and turn the function on and off if necessary. For Visual Studio 2008, the shortcut is Ctrl + E, S.
