Learn about SQL Server hardware or speed tests

I use the sql server regularly and have recently been disappointed in performance. It would be difficult for me to get direct access to find out the equipment like this:

Is there a direct way in a management studio for evaluating performance or finding the exact equipment.

In addition, someone has a set of test SQL procedures that I could try and perfectly compare with other results to get an idea of this performance.

So far I have set up some quick queries on my local sql express server machines just as the test seems to be faster than the sql server on the network, which should be high, although no one knows when it was last updated. I have this feeling that was not 6 or 7 years old. Obviously, these tests do not take into account the possibility of polling others at the same time or transmitting network results ... I hope someone has a better solution.

IF you are in 2005:

SELECT * FROM sys.dm_os_performance_counters

This will give you sql statistics only. You will not find much information about the car without at least access to the terminal. You can also see processor information in the sql startup log.

  • Take a look at query query plans. Make sure they are (using indexes, when they etc.)

  • Make it formal. Ask your manager to get the specifications of the machine, disk location and configuration server, and the last time the statistics were updated for all tables and indexes. Clarify that the car does not seem effective enough.

  • If statistics are out of date, update them.
