Are styling tools useful?

A recent question about StyleCop warned me about using tools to provide a coding style. I would feel very annoyed if I needed to run one of these tools while I was developing. Do people really find them useful? Why or why not?

Everyone who answered so far has indicated that they think the style / formatting rules are useful, and I agree 100% with that. But what about using the enforcement tool rather than the style guide and regular code reviews? Do people find useful in practice? Why or why not?
