Warm Standby SQL Server / Web Server

Warm Standby SQL Server / Web Server

This question may fall into the IT category, but as a lead developer, I have to come up with a solution for integration, as well as problems with clean software.

We just moved our web server outside the site, and now I would like to maintain a warm mode of operation both on the site and on the database (SQL 2005) on the site. What are the best methods for doing this in the following environment?

Off site: our site and database (SQL 2005) are on the same Windows 2003 server. There is a firewall in front of the server, which replication or mirroring of the database is not an option. Vpn is also not an option.

My thoughts as a developer were to write a service that runs on a remote host in order to archive and ftp back up the database to a local ftp server. Then another process will unzip the backup and restore it to a warm backup database here.

I guess I can do this on the website as well.

I would be open to all ideas, including third-party solutions.
