Can I make iPhone apps using only OpenGL and not Cocoa Touch?

I would rather encode the application using a pure C api such as OpenGL, but rather Cocoa Touch. Therefore, I wonder: is this possible? Will I be able to maintain the same user interface that you get with Interface Builder?

None of the user interface components have OpenGL equivalents. Is it possible? Yes. It is reasonable? No - you would be much better off learning how to use the IB and UIView classes. Coding the user interface in OpenGL would be like painting your house with an artist’s brush, using hand paint instead of Dulux.

If I had to display any standard, non-trivial widget, I would use CocoaTouch.
