Are classic CINs classic?

I am writing an application using labview and should use external code. I read that using CINs is old-fashioned and "wrong" to use. It's right? Should I use generic dlls instead?

What are the advantages / disadvantages of both methods?

I have no personal experience writing external code that LabVIEW calls, but from the NI knowledge base : "When given a choice, a DLL is a choice."

The benefits listed include:

  • Many processes can share one copy of the DLL in memory.
  • Many applications can share one copy of the DLL on disk.
  • DLL
  • (?) CIN.

  • CIN- , DLL/ .
