Best way for an R&D company to get out of a clean “D” regime?

I work for R&D in the energy business. We have developed some successful products, but now it seems we are spending all our time fixing the problems associated with these products. We do not seem to have time to develop new products. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to deal with problems that arise with existing products, but still have the time and resources to develop new products?

TY, Fred
