Is automatic testing still referred to as smoke testing?

If not, is smoke testing still in use?

This is a kind of Venn diagram. Some automated tests are smoke tests, and some smoke tests are automated (if they are controlled by a computer program). A Smoke test is a take-off (if I remember correctly) in the term "Where people smoke, usually fire." This is a set of preliminary tests that a program must pass to be considered for "real" testing (for example, a fire).

A Smoke test can be manual, because the tester has a list of steps that it follows, but they are not automated using a computer program.

Smoke testing is still in use - in the places where I worked, it is usually automated.

Automated testing can conduct smoke testing (small, wide), but it can also perform other testing, such as regression testing , and unit testing . In general, automated testing can be any repeatable test.
