I first learned about XP in 2004, and it completely changed my programming worldview. XP is very convenient, it encourages you to "use what works," and you can start small and work in it.

I don’t know too much about SCRUM. But I can say that I hate the use of the word "sprint" because it has poor connotations. And SCRUM deliberately draws a line, not offering any engineering practices, and tries to be a purely management technique, supposedly leaving technical solutions to the team.

In my work, we used the Target Process ( http://targetprocess.com/ ) as our planning and bug tracking tool. It has good options for extensibilty and source control, and we have included it in VS2008.

It supports the SCRUM methodology, supporting the ability to store user history, sprints and very nice effort assessment tools.

We are very pleased with this.
