I am looking for a (simple) text editor that can process text in different encodings in the same document.
I need to develop some sites with mixed text in Japanese and English, and the editors that I currently (in the English Windows system) cannot display Japanese text. Jedit files do not display the text I entered, but when I look at a file in a browser, it displays correctly. Gvim displays all Japanese text in the editor as question marks, as well as in the browser. Kanji works are introduced in Gvim (you type a pronunciation and then press the spacebar to get kanji), but when you confirm kanji, you want it to replace that kanji with question marks. (1 question mark for each kanji).
Can someone recommend me a text editor for editing html and php files that can display utf-8 encoded text and save as utf-8 as well?
thank.
After reading emacs, I installed it. see below.
Thanks to everyone for the tips. if you do not already have a Unicode font, you must find it online or buy it. here are the instructions for installing the font on a Windows system http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314960
jEdit I changed my font in Jedit to a UTF font, and now the Japanese appear normally. typing the Japanese is still problematic since you don't see what you're typing. (to change the font for editing files, go to "Utilities" β "Global Settings" β text area, select the Unicode font, and you can see Japanese characters.
