I have Slackware 12.1 and want to try Eclipse for developing PHP / HTML / JavaScript. However, it seems that I am faced with many possible options, and I would really like to miss the best and abandon Eclipse (I am currently using Geany , but I am missing some things, like auto-complete for JavaScript)
I am currently studying just installing the all-in-one PDT package version 1.0.3:
http://www.eclipse.org/pdt/downloads/
However, this is similar to Eclipse 3.3. There is also a Slackware package for 3.4:
http://repository.slacky.eu/slackware-12.1/development/eclipse/3.4/
But he says this is a "classic" version. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to add support for PHP, HTML and JavaScript.
Note. I do not plan to run PHP through the Eclipse integrated web server or something like that. I just want a powerful editor.
PS Recommendations are also welcome for something better than Eclipse for Linux and free. I have already used Kate, SciTE, Geany, Emacs, Vi and Bluefish, so they are not interesting.
Important: whatever you recommend, explain the reasons. Do not rush to be the fastest weapon in the west, as I will reduce such answers that only say "use it"
